Joanna's Sunrise

On Lake Harriet the sun rises
Over my shoulder as I
Watch it's light crawl down the mast
Of her sailboat tied to it's buoy.

Today I brought a camera
And I will attempt to capture
A portion of the brilliance
And calm hopefulness of sunrise.

As the dawn touches the waterline
And 'Frankly Scarlett' smiles into my eyes
And the camera tries to focus on the heart
I laugh, and think of massaging her head.

As I paddle back towards the kayak's home,
Paddling further from her boat physically,
Yet I've retained a glowing piece of her.
It appears I've taken one more step closer.
