Story About Love
Rain and snow from the heavens above
My tires are spinning; I'm needing a shove
My hands are freezing; I'm missing a glove
Would my life be better if I had someone to love?
Rain and light and blossoms on the trees
Pollen in the air and I'm fixing to sneeze
Pants a bit tight; I'm gonna have to squeeze
Will love blow me over like a good stiff breeze?
Rain and heat and people in the park
Cruising 'round town, just for a lark
Laying in bed and sweating in the dark
What happened to love? Did it miss the mark?
Rain and wind and leaves on the ground
Sitting here wondering where my life is bound
Thinking of my friends, and the people I've found
Trying to get an idea how love might sound
Rain in my face; sunshine in my heart
Heading for the rocks; looking for a chart
Telling each other that we'll never part
It's undeveloped love, but at least it's a start
Mist in the air at the breaking of day
Felt kinda lost, but I found my way
Tried out counseling; started to pray
And love keeps growing; I think it'll stay
Fog in the valley; sunlight on the hill
Feeling pretty good for having been through the mill
Pleasantly surprised that we're all here still
And there's so much love, I keep getting my fill
Singing a song and ringing that bell
Walking through heaven; walking through hell
Laughing with the Lord, and wishing you well
It's a story about love I just had to tell
I've been singing this one since 1986 ... and I still like it.
